Put every charge into one of three buckets
The clearest way to read a hotel price is to separate mandatory costs from optional purchases and refundable holds. A refundable security deposit affects available funds but should not be counted as part of the stay price if it is returned in full.
Optional breakfast should not be added unless you intend to buy it. A mandatory destination fee should be included even when collected at the property.
Scan for the charges most often separated
Wording varies by destination and property type. Look for resort, facility, destination, cleaning, service, linen, energy, and administrative fees. Local occupancy or tourism taxes may be charged per person, per room, per night, or as a percentage.
Parking and breakfast are often optional, but they can be unavoidable for your particular trip. Put them in a personal trip total even if they are not mandatory for every guest.

Check the payment currency, not only the display currency

A deposit and a card hold are not the same thing
A deposit is money paid under stated refund rules. A pre-authorization or incidental hold temporarily reduces available credit and is normally released after checkout, although bank processing time varies.
Ask the property about the amount, payment method, and expected release timing if the checkout page is unclear.
Make the final screen do the work
Before paying, confirm the amount due now, the amount due later, the charge currency, and every mandatory amount excluded from both. If those numbers cannot be reconciled, pause and ask the seller to explain them in writing.
