Why the same hotel can appear to have three different prices
Hotel search pages are designed to make rates easy to scan, not necessarily easy to compare. One page may lead with a nightly rate before taxes. Another may show the entire stay. A hotel website might include breakfast while a booking platform defaults to a room-only rate.
None of those numbers is automatically wrong. They are simply answering different questions. Your job is to turn them into the same question before deciding which option costs less.
Start with one precise stay
Write down the check-in and check-out dates, number of adults and children, room name, bed setup, and cancellation deadline. If one detail is missing, do not quietly assume it matches.
Occupancy is especially important. A rate for one adult can be lower than the price for two adults, and children may change both room eligibility and local taxes.

- Adults, children, and the ages requested by the site
- Room category and bed configuration
- Meal plan, cancellation deadline, and prepayment rules
Find the total you will actually authorize
Move past the search result and look for the last price shown before payment details are requested. Add mandatory property fees, taxes, cleaning fees, and service charges when they are displayed separately.
Some destination charges are payable at the property and may not be included in an online total. Note those separately on every option rather than adding them to only one.
Put flexibility and payment timing beside the price
A non-refundable rate is not equivalent to a flexible rate. Nor is a pay-now offer identical to one charged at check-in. If your plans might change, the slightly higher flexible option can be the economically safer choice.
Convert each option into a short label: free cancellation until a specific date, partial refund, or non-refundable; pay now, scheduled charge, or pay at property. Then compare like with like.
Repeat the check immediately before booking
Availability and rates can change while tabs are open. Refresh the option you intend to book, verify the dates and guests again, and read the final total in the booking currency.
Once booked, save the confirmation and the cancellation terms. A good comparison ends with a record of what you actually agreed to.
